Houseboat Crossroads
Houseboat Crossroads

Why now?

Early mornings on the river carry a hush I’ve come to cherish. Before the world rushes in, there’s the quiet knock of water against the hull, the slow bloom of light through mist, and the first warm sip of coffee in my hands. It’s in that soft space between waking and making that this blog was born.

I’m in my fifties, and this chapter of life feels like a portal, not a plateau. It’s a return to my own rhythms, creative, spiritual, ancestral. I wanted to build something that could hold that energy. A space for artists and dreamers, especially those of us 50 and up, who are still becoming, still blooming, still finding new ways to live and make with intention.

My Houseboat Life isn’t about perfection or productivity. It’s about presence. It’s about living a creative life that listens to the river, to memory, to the body’s wisdom and the stories we carry. It’s a space where time ripples instead of races. Where art becomes ritual. Where joy can be slow.

What will you find here?

This is part personal journal, part creative studio, part floating altar. I’ll be sharing:

  • Reflections on art-making, life, and reimagining what it means to be a working artist

  • Notes from the river and inside my houseboat studio

  • Visiting Artists Workshops

  • Behind-the-scenes glimpses of workshops and offerings

  • Artists interviews

  • And quiet invitations to slow down and listen to your own tide

Whether you’re a fellow creative, someone craving softer stories, or just curious about life on the water, you’re welcome here.

PS-I finished writing just as a sun shower passed through. Moments later, a bright rainbow. It felt like the perfect ending—simple, unexpected, and somehow exactly right. It didn’t feel like coincidence. More like a quiet signal letting me know I'm on the right path.
